18 Oct 2017
On the 10th of October 2017, 7 students attended the Australian Walkabout Wildlife Park environmental leadership day in Calga. We were split into groups and we participated in many activities that helped us to learn about the environment and the ways that the Aboriginals lived off the land.
In the morning we learned how important trees are by calculating how much carbon is stored in trees. We also had the opportunity to collect seeds from the bush to propagate them.
Later we walked around the park with a ranger and we were told how the aboriginals used many plants for medicine and food. We even ate some termites that tasted like pepper.
These were just some of the fantastic activities that we did on the day. We will be meeting with Mrs Clayton and Mrs Kirby next week to talk about how we can make some environmental changes at our school.
