Year 6 students had a thoroughly enjoyable day playing touch football against other schools on the coast. Both teams won, lost and drew games, showed great sportsmanship and represented Woodport proudly. A big thank you to Carmen Fleming, Jill Fitzgerald, Mark Pearce and Dean Wildemann for assisting on the day.

The boys played their round 4 game against Niagara Park at Adcock Park last Thursday. Lachlan, our team captain, again won the toss and elected to bowl first for the third time this year. Roop and Lachlan opened the bowling. After 8 overs Roop got his first wicket and the score was one for 40. All our bowlers bowled extremely well, particularly our two ‘leggies'- Callum and Lewis who both took vital wickets and helped to slow down the run rate. After 25 overs Niagara Park posted a very competitive score of 3 for 104.
So, we needed to score 105 runs off 25 overs. The boys did not get off to the best start and after 3 overs were 3 out for 10 runs, so things were looking a bit grim. Roop and Jonah dug in and against some very good bowling were able to latch on to anything loose and hit the ball to the boundary. Between both boys they hit a total of 15 boundaries to put Woodport back on top. After Roop retired on 40 the boys had put on a partnership of 80. This was absolutely outstanding batting from both Roop and Jonah under so much pressure. Lewis came in and batted very confidently to hit the winning runs in the 19th over.
What an amazing game! Well done boys! Great sportsmanship was on display and they were a great credit to our school.
Thanks again to our wonderful parents for all their support. Looking forward to our next match.
