10 May 2018

A wonderful day was had by everyone at our Woodport Games, that were held late last term. Children came dressed proudly dressed up in their country's colours and paraded in the opening ceremony. The day commenced with a young Prince Harry lookalike opening the Games, followed by a baton relay. After the formalities the Games commenced and all children participated enthusiastically and had a great deal of fun.
Passports were stamped as students completed a world tour (in the hall), engaging in cultural activities of some Commonwealth countries involved in the Games, enabling them to gain an understanding of life in other countries.
At the closing ceremony the winning nation was announced. In first place was Singapore (5/6M), second was England (4E) and in third place was Cyprus (1/2R). 5/6M will be receiving a pizza party this Friday along with the class that raises the most money.

A very special thank you to Mrs Moore, Larissa Ware and the P&C and Jodie Smith from Woosh who worked so hard to plan and coordinate such a wonderful day for our students.
Please continue to return all sponsor forms and money. Prizes will be awarded tomorrow afternoon at 2:10pm with a special visit from our Games mascot Hooker Bear, from LJ Hooker. The top four fundraisers will receive a prize and the top fundraiser in each class (excluding the top 4) will receive a double movie pass to Avoca Cinema.
The Woodport Games were declared the best games ever due to the amazing organisation and the wonderful team spirit of our competitors. We look forward to seeing who will win our major prizes. Thank you to LJ Hooker Erina, Avoca Beach Cinema, Intencity, Alpine Beach Surf Shop, Kincumber Indoor Sports and the Australian Reptile Park who generously donated prizes.
Thank you to everyone for supporting the Woodport Games. All money raised will be used to purchase technology for our classrooms.
