Congratulations to our school robotics team (the Woodport Englehamandeggenburgers) who have recently excelled in the FIRST Lego League Competition by placing in the top three. The team is now off to compete in the national finals on Sunday 8 December at Macquarie University.
The students were judged in the following areas: Core Values, a Research Project, Robotics and Sharing ideas with the community. Our team won 'Best Presentation' category for their research project because of the detail and all the contacts they have had with the community. They were able to confidently explain the identified issue and how they have gone about creating a solution to the problem. They certainly looked very professional with a large model of the ‘Hab-a-Seat’ on display, pull up banners and posters outlining their research design brief and findings. To progress to the national final the students had to perform well in all four categories as only the top three teams could progress.
A very big thank you to Mrs Lawson who has worked tirelessly for the past 6 months mentoring the team with the assistance of Mr Brown. The team has spent endless hours honing its skills at lunchtimes, after school and on weekends. Thank you also to all the families and staff who supported the team in many capacities.
It was certainly a very proud moment for us all. The team is very busy working to improve Robbi the robot so he is at his peak for nationals. Congratulations to all the team for their dedication, enthusiasm and professionalism. Go Woodport!
