Our extra-curricular highlights
Dance
Woodport School is excited to offer dance as one of its extracurricular activities, giving students a creative and energetic outlet beyond the classroom.
Through various dance students can explore self-expression, build confidence, and stay physically active.
The dance program encourages teamwork, discipline, and a love for the performing arts, all within a fun and supportive environment. Whether students are beginners or experienced dancers, this activity helps them grow both personally and artistically.
Band
Students can apply to join our vibrant Training Band or Concert Band from Year 3. We proudly partner with TSA (Teaching Services Australia), who provide a range of high-quality instrumental tuition programs. TSA offers individual or group lessons before and during school hours and integrates band rehearsals into this program for a seamless learning experience.
Students receive a strong foundation in musicianship and technique, setting them up for years of success
Our bands perform regularly at Performing Arts Night, Presentation Assemblies, Mother’s and Father’s Day Breakfasts, Bandfest, and the Central Coast Music Festival.
Sport
Sport is an important part of school life, helping students build teamwork, confidence, and a healthy lifestyle. Each week, students enjoy stage sport, while Stage 3 students can represent our school in PSSA knockout competitions across a range of sports.
We hold annual swimming, cross country, and athletics carnivals, with opportunities for students to trial for Sydney North representative teams.
All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 also take part in the Sporting Schools program, enjoying fun, skill-based sessions with qualified coaches.
STEM
In science and technology, students explore the natural and made worlds. They learn how to apply scientific and technological skills, knowledge and understanding across a broad range of contexts.
Science provides a way of inquiring about the world around us. It explores evidence and investigates ways to discover, develop and produce solutions to real world problems. The inquiry and skill-based nature of science opens doors to ideas and discoveries.
We proudly partner with the Central Coast STEM Academy, who connect our students with community and industry experts to extend their learning beyond the classroom. These partnerships allow students to engage with authentic, real-world topics — from environmental sustainability and renewable energy to robotics, coastal management, and emerging technologies — helping them see how science and technology shape the world around them today and into the future.
Green Team
At Woodport Public School, our Green Team is open to students from Kindergarten to Year 6 who are passionate about looking after the environment.
Together, we learn practical skills to help make our school more sustainable, including how to compost, how to sort waste into the correct bins, and how to care for our school garden beds.
The Green Team also plays an important role in promoting sustainability across the school by encouraging others to make environmentally friendly choices. Through teamwork and hands-on activities, our students develop a strong sense of responsibility, leadership, and pride in helping create a greener future for our school and community.
Drama
Woodport Public School are proud to offer students in years 3-6 the opportunity to join the Drama Group. The group meets once a week during lunch, giving students the chance to build confidence, creativity and teamwork through the fun of performance.
Each session begins with lively drama games that help students develop improvisation, characterisation and stage presence. As the term progresses, students work with scripts to practise voice, movement and performance skills, all while learning to collaborate and express themselves on stage. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to grow their skills, have fun and shine in front of an audience!
Choir
SCOPE IT
At Woodport Public School, we partner with Scope IT to deliver engaging, hands-on technology lessons that equip students with the essential skills needed for the digital age. Students learn to code, design, and innovate while exploring how technology can be used creatively and responsibly to solve real-world problems.
This year, Year 3 students were introduced to the fundamentals of coding through Blockly, developing logical thinking and sequencing skills as they created their own interactive programs. Year 4 students showcased their science learning by building websites that demonstrated their understanding of the Living World, combining digital design with scientific communication. Meanwhile, Stage 3 students used coding and creativity to develop mobile apps promoting their Pop-Up Shop initiative, encouraging sustainable clothing practices and reducing waste. Through these projects, students not only enhance their technical skills but also learn how innovation can make a positive impact on the world around them.
