Welcome to 1C 2024!
Students in 1C have had an amazing start to the year, settling in nicely and establishing solid work habits. I look forward to a fun and fantastic year ahead!
Sports Day - Sports days are Wednesday and Friday each week. It is important that students wear appropriate footwear, bring a water bottle and their hat.
Library Day – 1C have their library day with Mrs Ireland every Thursday. In order to borrow, they will need to have a library bag to protect the books.
Computers / Music Day – Mrs Lawson will take 1C for music on a Thursday for Terms 1 and 2. In Terms 3 and 4 the students will participate in technology lessons.
Fruit Break - Each morning we have fruit break around 10:00am. Please include a piece of fruit or vegetable that is easy to eat in your child’s lunch box each day. Fruit break should only take 5-10 minutes.
Homework – Homework is handed out each Monday including home readers. Home readers need to be returned Wednesdays and Fridays, along with completed homework on Fridays.
Parent Helpers – Parent helpers are an integral part of school life. Please contact me if you are wanting to assist during literacy times, Monday from 9am or Wednesday from 11:30am. If you are willing to assist but may be unable to make a commitment each week, please also remember there may be other opportunities throughout the year, including the sports carnival, Book Week and book covering of our new decodable readers.
Assembly – Our assembly is held fortnightly (even weeks) on a Wednesday after lunch in our school hall. Parents are welcome to attend.
Parent Communication - Communication between parents and their child’s teacher is very important. Should you have any queries regarding your child, please contact the office via phone or send me a request on the Sentral App. As teachers are very busy throughout the school day teaching, attending meetings and other duties, it may take 24 - 48 hours to respond.
Attendance – Attendance at school is extremely important and even the shortest of absences can result in your child missing key concepts. Sometimes absences are unavoidable, and this is understandable. Please ensure you inform the school or myself with a reason should your child be absent from school. Responding via SMS when the school contacts you is one of the easiest methods. If family holidays are planned, it is also helpful to advise us of your child’s intended absence prior to the date.
Thank you for your support and partnership in learning!
