5/6K

Hi from 5/6K!

A very warm welcome from our lovely class, 5/6K.

For those who I may not yet had the opportunity to meet, my name is Mrs Krisher. I am in my 19th year of teaching and consider myself very lucky to have the delightful 5/6K as well as the role of Assistant Principal of Stage 3. I am looking forward to teaching your children with our hard-working and amazing, Stage 3 staff.

I am so pleased with how 5/6K students have settled into their new class. We consider ourselves a ‘Learning Family’ and I like to create very supportive learning environments with predictable routines, fostered on high expectations. We have some important values in our class that we refer to often in our classroom. They are:

1)    Be You! Let others be themselves.

2)    Lift others and ourselves up.

3)    Practice empathy.

4)    Making mistakes is ok.

5)    Be brave. Step into the arena.

These values help us to create a very nurturing classroom environment where we all take care of each other and value one another’s experiences. I encourage my students to have pride, character and empathy in all they do.

Having a growth mindset is also important in our classroom. Your child might be able to tell you what my favourite word of all time is…...’Yet!’ The power of this little word is something we will use often to steer a fixed mindset into a growth mindset. If your child starts to add ‘yet’ to the ends of your sentences, you’ll know why!

In 5/6K we love to mix hard work and diligence with fun and interesting brain breaks. This keeps our learners engaged and enjoying their classroom experience. We are looking forward to a fantastic year full of meaningful and memorable experiences as we strive to meet our school expectations of being safe, respectful learners.

Here is a snapshot of our week:

Sports Day - Friday (please have hats, water bottles and joggers)

Library Day - Tuesday

Computers / Music Day – Tuesday

Scripture – Thursday

Fruit Break - We have fruit break sometime during the morning session.

Please include a piece of fruit or vegetables that are easy to eat in your child’s lunch box each day.

Homework – Students will be completing reading comprehension, grammar, maths mentals and optional online Mathletics activities.

Assembly - Friday (even weeks) 2:05 pm.

Parent Communication – Open communication between us is very important. Should you have any queries regarding your child, please contact the office via phone or email to request an interview or send me a message on Sentral. As I am very busy throughout the school day teaching, attending meetings and other duties, I may take a day to respond, and if it is urgent, please contact the office as I do not always get a chance to check Sentral throughout the day.

I am really looking forward to working with your child and meeting you all.

Kind regards,

Mrs Krisher
