2L

Welcome to 2L.

I am so excited to be teaching my first full time class in Year 2! We have had a fantastic start to the year and have all settled in well to class routines. 2L are a wonderful group of students and I have enjoyed getting to know them over the past few weeks. I am looking forward to watching them grow with a huge focus on emotional regulation, wellbeing, student voice and navigating friendships.

We love sharing highlights and lowlights in our yarning circle and have been filling up each other’s buckets all term with positive praise. This has created a wonderful classroom culture.

Sports Day: Your child will participate in sporting lessons on Wednesdays and Fridays. They will need to wear their sports uniform, sports shoes, school hat and have a drink bottle.

Library Day – Mrs Ireland will take 2L for library on Tuesdays. We encourage students to borrow books of self-interest during this lesson to develop a love of reading.

Computers / Music Day – In terms 1 and 2 your child will participate in music lessons each Tuesday morning with Mrs Lawson. In terms 3 and 4, they will attend the computer lab at this time to learn technology skills.

Fruit Break - Each morning we have fruit break at 10 am.  Please include a small piece of fresh fruit that is easy to eat in your child’s lunch box each day. Fruit break should only take 5-10 minutes.

Homework – Homework for Term 1 will consist of a home reader, spelling and Basic Maths Facts. This will begin in week 4.

Assembly:  Wednesdays (even weeks) 2:10pm

Parent Communication - We believe that open communication between parents and their child’s teacher is very important. Should you have any queries regarding your child, please contact your classroom teacher via the messaging system on sentral. You can also phone the office via or email to request an interview.

I am looking forward to a fabulous year and helping your children grow and learn in a positive way!

Kind Regards,
Mrs Jackie Langdon Down
