4M

Welcome to 4M!

For those who I may not yet had the opportunity to meet, my name is Mrs Maier. After 19 years being Assistant Principal at Lisarow Primary School I decided to have a change and was fortunate enough to gain a permanent classroom position at Woodport PS and 2024 will be my third year at the school. I am looking forward to teaching your children with a hard-working and enthusiastic Stage 2 staff. The students have settled in beautifully and we are excited for the year ahead. There is so much going on in Stage 2 at Woodport PS with a wide array of opportunities that cater for all sorts of interests.

In class, we are focused on differentiating lessons so that learning is targeted to different learning styles, abilities and interests within our new English and Mathematics NSW Syllabus units. These units will develop important critical thinking that our Stage 2 students will need heading into Stage 3 as students are now expected to critically process issues in their community and their world. We are teaching them to be active participants rather than passive observers, equipped to contribute to the world in meaningful ways.

We are looking forward to a wonderful year full of memorable experiences as we strive to meet our school expectations of being safe, respectful learners.

Here are some of our weekly activities-

Sports Day - Friday morning sport and afternoon Tennis for PE

Library Day - Wednesday

Computers / Music Day - Wednesday

Fruit Break  - We have fruit break around 10am, during the morning session.  Please include a piece of fruit or vegetables that are easy to eat in your child’s lunch box each day (no processed foods).

Healthy Low Waste Lunchboxes - Thank you to all the parents who are supporting their children’s choice of low waste and healthy lunches. “Nude Food” is encouraged whenever possible.

Homework – Given fortnightly on Google Classroom every second Monday.

Assembly - Friday (fortnightly) 2:10 pm.

Parent Communication – Open communication between us is very important. Should you have any queries regarding your child, please contact the office via phone or email to request an interview or send me a request or brief message on Sentral. As I am very busy throughout the school day teaching, attending meetings and other duties, I may take a day to respond. Any time sensitive issues should be communicated through the office.

I am looking forward to working with your child and meeting you all! Thanks for the lovely welcoming start to 2024!
