6E

Welcome to 6E!

6E have hit the ground running this year, launching headfirst into the new English and Maths curriculum and building our class culture which is based around three main principles:

·         Treat others as you would like to be treated.

·         Respect yourself, respect others and respect the teacher.

·         Compassion and empathy are the cornerstone of relationships.

We work hard and play hard in 6E, with multiple opportunities provided for students to express themselves, lead movement breaks/activities and be part of a democratic classroom with a strong ‘voice’.

Students strive and support each other to achieve their academic WTN (‘Where To Next’) goals. They are given regular, specific feedback so that they can progress and improve. Adjustments, extension activities and learning support all ensure students are being challenged and moved on from their level. We support your child to be independent, confident and curious learners by fostering their strengths and giving them opportunities to overcome obstacles and build self-esteem.

2024 marks the Year of Friendship at Woodport. In 6E, I provide guidance on social skills and strategies and help students to address and discuss issues productively and proactively. Inclusion is extremely important in 6E and a class culture of care and support for others is highly valued.

Sports Day - Stage 3 Friday (bring hats and appropriate shoes)

Library Day - Wednesday

Computers / Music Day - Wednesday

Fruit Break – Students have the freedom to have their fruit break when they choose in the morning session. Please include a piece of fruit or some vegetables that are easy to eat in your child’s lunch box each day.

Healthy Low Waste Lunchboxes - Thank you to all the parents who are supporting their children’s choice of low waste and healthy lunches. ‘Nude Food’ is always encouraged.

Homework - Students will be completing reading comprehension, grammar, maths mentals and/or online Mathletics activities.

Assembly - Friday (even weeks) 2:00 pm.

Parent Communication – Open communication between us is very important. Should you have any queries regarding your child, please contact the office via phone or email to request an interview or send me a message on Sentral. As I am very busy throughout the school day teaching, attending meetings and other duties, I may take a day to respond. If it is urgent, please contact the office, especially as it relates to travel arrangements, medications, finances, etc.

The lovely Ms Eland teaches 6E every second Friday on even (assembly) weeks. Looking forward to meeting you all!
