1J

Welcome to 1J

1J has had a fantastic start to the year and are settling in well to class routines. They are a wonderful group of students and I have enjoyed getting to know them over the past few weeks.

Here is a snapshot of our week:

Sports Day - Sports Day are Wednesday and Friday each week. It is important that students have appropriate footwear, water bottle and their hat.

Library Day – 1J have their Library Day with Mrs Ireland every Thursday. To borrow, the children need to have a Library bag to protect the books during transportation.

omputers / Music Day– Mrs Lawson will take 1J for Music on a Thursday. This program runs during the first semester. In Terms 3 and 4 the students will participate in technology lessons during this time.

Fruit Break - Each morning we have fruit break around 10:00am. Please include a small piece of fruit that is easy to eat in your child’s lunch box each day. Fruit break should only take 5 minutes.

Homework – Homework is distributed each Monday. This will include spelling, basic maths facts and reading. Children are encouraged to read each night for 15 minutes.

Parent Helpers – Parent helpers are an integral part of school life. If you can help, this would be appreciated. Please send a message through the Sentral Parent Portal letting me know your availability, it does not need to be a weekly commitment.

Assembly – Stage 1 will be having assembly every fortnight (even weeks) on a Wednesday at 2:10pm.

Parent Communication - We believe that communication between parents and their child’s teacher is very important. Should you have any queries regarding your child, please contact the office via phone or send a message on the Sentral Parent Portal. As we are busy throughout the school day teaching, attending meetings and other duties, we may take 24-48 hours to respond.

I am looking forward to working with your wonderful children this year and watching them grow!

Kind regards,

Mrs Jocelyn Campbell
