4K

Welcome to 4K.

What a wonderful start to the year! I am delighted with the way that the students are progressing and settling into their new class. They are a lovely group of students and I am enjoying getting to know them, their unique personalities and strengths.

I am very excited about our learning programs and my aim is to develop students who are inquisitive, resourceful and ready to take on a challenge. We will work to develop positive learning dispositions where students learn to question, think critically and persevere through setbacks and difficulties. Our earth and space science unit will engage students in real world learning where they will work scientifically to explore the natural and human processes that shape the ever evolving surface of the earth.

Sports Day: Your child will participate in sporting lessons on Fridays. They will need to wear their sports uniform, sports shoes and school hat.

Library Day – Mrs Ireland will take 4K for library on Wednesdays. We encourage students to borrow books of self-interest during this lesson to develop a love of reading.

Computers / Music Day – In terms 1 and 2 your child will participate in music lessons each Wednesday morning with Mrs Lawson. In terms 3 and 4, they will engage in lessons involving the use of technology.

Fruit Break  - Each morning (except Wednesdays) we have fruit break at 10 am.  Please include a small piece of fruit that is easy to eat in your child’s lunch box each day. Fruit break should only take 5-10 minutes.

Homework – Every Monday students will be assigned homework through Google Classroom. Homework will include a variety of activities including reading quizzes, typing exercises and maths activities. Homework is designed to reinforce work taught during the week and should be turned in through Google Classroom on Friday morning. Your child will receive instruction on how to access, complete and turn their homework in during class time.

Assembly:  Fridays (even weeks) 2:10pm

Parent Communication - We believe that open communication between parents and their child’s teacher is very important. Should you have any queries regarding your child, please contact the office via phone or email to request an interview.

I am very excited to work with your child this year.

Kind regards,

Mrs Kirby
